These new owners have severely lowered our standards. Boehly get out of my club
avatar
I think if the fee for Trafford is low enough, we'll take him and keep Pope as first choice. I think it's a risk as he already didn't like diving to his left and now that he hurt that shoulder a 2nd time it could get worse. Trafford had an awful season but is very young. Has a chance of fucking another season but can we even afford Mamardashvili and then go big on a RW?
avatar
Goalkeeper situation is a bit complex this summer for sure. Pope has just come back from a 2nd bit shoulder injury which isn't ideal for a Goalkeeper especially. I don't believe we'll buy Both Trafford & Mamardashvili, both are young, and will cost 50-60mil combined which isn't a good idea as you said. With no Europe there's no possibility to rotate in that position as I believe we'll play strongest 11 available for the League, and both domestic cups. So for me there's two likely scenarios: 1. - Keep Pope + sign Trafford (20m) as backup, (good mix with a older and younger keeper) 2. - Buy Mamardsvili (~35m), and then loan/sign a No.2 because Pope won't stay as backup at this stage in his career, and "Mama" wont join us if he's not a instant starter. That backup GK could maybe be someone like Robert Sanchez/Kepa/Johnstone/Steele. Solid stop-gap solutions imo As for Longstaff, I believe there will be interest in him from Bottom half PL clubs. He's for me 7th choice in midfield so hoping we cash in
avatar
Yeah, which is quite scary, but the hope is that we approached first, and seemingly have already made an offer. While Chelsea and Man U haven't sent anything as of yet. So lets hope he'll pick us.
avatar
Guau, siempre es un placer hablar y interactuar con vos querido adam, at least you guys have a solid base in the team, this season with that amount of injuries is tough, that tonali suspension was shocking i cant believe some kind of people be so stupid, like say before i wish the best of luck this season my father is big fan yours, so most likely always see newcastle matches but he dosent know the problem of injuries, thanks again, take care adam good night.
avatar
It's never not been toxic for me tbh. Like sure, there is a few good eggs in there. But a lot are very reactionary, and unless they get what they want, they throw a hissy fit. Reminds me of the dark days, where we'd lose a game, and then suddenly it was the end of the world like lmao.
avatar
Tripps is one of our sellable assets for sure, we could get 8mil easily imo. But you mentioned Tripps leadership abilities, he's almost like a playing coach. Having Trippier would also increase competition for that RB spot, I don't think Ashby/Krafth are good enough to play RB for a prolonged period if something was to happen to Tino, so I'd keep Trippier this summer I also think the system was made for Tripper, we see him normally shine when he's got Miggy infront of him. This graph shows Trippier"s creativity https://s3a.sofifa.net/35430d3432e8a477209a4d2689d39bd0506f5e37.jpg
avatar
Normally I'd say no, and while I'm sure he'll pick himself back up. But his previous few matches. While not complete bad, but it's worth thinking about, given his age. Yes, he's a solid hand, and a big name in the squad. But if it was £8mill, and got a big wage off the books. With Tino there, Krafth as back up. It might be an ideal thing to do.
avatar
Newcastle twitter is a bit toxic right now, anyone else feel the same? You are either overly optimistic, or overly pessimistic
avatar
The more I think about our season, the more I feel sad honestly. If we'd held on vs Liverpool, City, West Ham. We'd be comfy in 6th place damn.
avatar
This is why we need a sporting director in place who's got power to block DCL type of deals. £20m+ for a injury prone striker who's extremely limited. I'd not even be happy with this type of deal during Bruce/Ashley days. Fully agree that missing out in Europe is a big setback, I can't see positives without Europe. People say that we'll only have one game a week and have a fresher team, I disagree. Our reserves/youngsters could easily get us out from a UECL group whilst the main 15 players would rest for a week just play Sunday games. It's a bit worrying to see how much Eddie rates Longstaff, hope he doesn't block a move because there will naturally be interest in a homegrown PL experienced 26 y/o entering his last year of contract
avatar
Chelsea will get top four next season if he stays healthy.
avatar
Wanted Leeds up tbh. Close away trip for our fans, big historical team with a big global fanbase. The atmosphere at Elland Road is also arguably the best in the country. Ours is good too, but feel it could be a bit louder against weaker teams. Soton is a team that belongs in the PL though, but feel for our fans making that long trip next season
avatar
Buenas noches. The main reason for Newcastle's " dip " in form this season is injuries as shown here: https://s3a.sofifa.net/611b6801f2c76e87e64a7fe51173e6b64d27b991.jpg. Tonali's suspension did not help too. We will most likely sign two CB"s who are free agents (Lloyd Kelly & Tosin) because Botman & Lascelles got ACL knee injuries and will be back in 2025. We have also been linked with Mamardashvili the GK. Here's a shortlist of realistic transfers I made back in February: I also explain what Newcastle need here https://sofifa.com/shortlist/265300
avatar
115 charges or not. Man City knows how to negotiate properly. Its crazy how good deals they are able to get. I haven't read anywhere that Soton are obliged to pay up for Fraser, player will likely head back to us... I still expect Ryan to join them, but it should have been a obligation to buy
avatar
Ours was prob £2mill and a packet of crisps lmao. But I'm sure we will, but the trouble comes is dealing with what we have compared to what they have. Southampton seemingly of recent, have developed a liking for City's young players. Which isn't surprising, given honestly. It's why I'm so hype around Harrison, if he turns out to be a wonderkid, that'll be massive for us. If we continue investing in right areas of the youth, I'm sure we could pull off these deals. Not that these younger players are head and shoulders above likes of Fraser, Lewis, Hendrick etc. But you'd rather put your money on them, than the crop we have in that area.
avatar
minteh to everton on loan while we sign a top RW and keep murphy for another year wouldn't be bad. Not interested in DCL at all myself but Howe loves his PL players.
avatar
Referee waiting until Leeds score
avatar
"It may be difficult to find someone better" Rumors are going that we are linked with Son from Spurs and I believe he is a good replacement or Matthias Jaissle can simply switch to his old tactic 4-1-2-1-2 (Diamond) just like in Salzburg and replace ASM with a striker. "especially if he’s still under contract" It is all dependent on Mr. Lee Congerton if he can find someone willing to buy ASM. In the end, I'm not saying that ASM is a bad player he simply does not fit the team, but who knows maybe next season he will blow up and I will eat my words then.
avatar
The one thing I'd say for the Summer, is that we need to be understanding of who's future, and who is past. I don't care if Dummett is good in the dressing room. Or if Ritchie makes a good burger. They're not good enough to be regular players in the PL any more. Much like 90% of that loan list on here needs to be gone. We're making good moves with the possible two free CB signings we're making. Actual good depth in cover. So we can ease Botman back in, and even Lascelles((Even if he could be a Summer 25 sell)) Keeping Bruno and Isak is key of course. But in general, we really need to shape the squad to be exactly that. A squad. Not a team where we have like 3-4 players that basically offer nothing unless we're like 3-0 up or something.
avatar
I want our club to act like a elite club now. Ritchie, Dummett, Gillespie are for me nothing but dressing room cheerleaders, none of them are good enough for League one, let alone PL, and they pick up 100k/week salary... rather have Tim Krul/Forster as 3rd choice. And two teenage wonderkids in the matchday squads, as of now there's no clear pathway for youngsters if Howe keeps these has-beens around. -Isak won't go anywhere because nobody can afford him. Now it's about getting a competent 2nd choice who's availability is much better than Wilson's - If Bruno.G goes he's got my blessings, he's carried us this year and genuinely loves this club. If he stays however then he and us fans deserves better. Get rid of Longstaff and sign a No.6 backup so Bruno can rest at times or play further forward as No.8 - Get rid of the Bruce/Ashley era players who's for me got loser mentalities, just happy picking up wages whilst not having ambition to play. I can accept having Murphy & Krafth for another season as they are versatile, but they need to be sold next year. Lascelles should have been gone too but he's not going anywhere with the knee injury he's recovering from. -Get rid of everyone out on loan except Minteh & Kuol. Buy out their contracts like Arteta did so we can get a clean fresh start. - This club have a loser mentality, and it's been the case for centuries. We don't perform when the pressure is on us, we had it all in our hands with good fixtures and bottled 6th place. That's why I want us to sign more Bruno's Isak, Botman's & Gordon's, players who won't settle for 8th or 9th. - I want to see the club have a proper review of what went wrong regarding injuries, we broke a Premier league record for most days out through injuries, we can't just blame bad luck, there's a reason for this. Eddie Howe still got my full support. But he needs to realize that his job could be in danger if he doesn't deliver in the PL first few months of next season. He needs to be ruthless as a coach and make the difficult decision and sell players who's not good enough to take us closer to Arsenal, Man City & Liverpool level
avatar
It was a decent season not what I expected, but it is good overall. I had very high expectations for many players but was disappointed (E.g., Mahrez, ASM, and Firmino). On the other hand, some had unexpected season. Like Mendy who started the season so poorly then played like he is in his prime. Kiesse who I did not have a high expectation but suddenly became the most important player and the ace of the team. And Ibanez who plays like he was born in Jeddah. (We do not talk about Demiral here). Gabri Veiga was very crucial for the play style of the team but I do not know how I feel about him after his injury. This season gifted us with many high-potential players like Darisi, R. Hamed, B. Al Hurayji, and F. Al Birekan. About the next season. The players I want to be replaced are ASM with a better LW his play style does not fit a team that tries to combating for the title, Firmino probably replace him with number 6, Demiral with RB or LB, and S. Balobaid with M. Al Harbi from Al-Shabab. I do not think F. Al Hamad, I. Al Zubaidi, A. Al Asmari, A. Ateef, A. Hindi, and A. Majrashi have a place in the squad for the next season especially since we are limited to 25 players only. A. Fallatah, A. Darisi, H. Asiri, Z. Al Johani, M. Khodari, and Y. Al Zubaidi can go on a loan to get more play time next season. More importantly, we need to strengthen the bench with more experienced and reliable players.
avatar
It's certainly not impossible to keep the both of them, or even one of them. We always assume the worst, and while it'd be understandable in sense of them stepping up to going to a CL consistent club. But as you say, they may know what we're building. So they may want to stay. If anything for me, cause of this, I'd ensure not to give Dummett or Ritche contracts, as we don't need them. If we're gonna show such, we need to remove those who aren't gonna do something for us in future.
avatar
If they sign Bruno, it'd be a suckerpunch. While I wouldn't blame Bruno, man deserves to be playing at the highest level. But knowing that cause they couldn't be bothered to perform in the FA Cup final, to then sign him, it'd feel like a blow to the gut.

avatar
And of course they'd win today ffs. Any other game, it'd be different. Welp. No Europe next season, going to be hard to keep some of our stars. It's possible. But now it's extremely harder.
avatar
Same here my friend. Not getting Europe this season could cost us hugely with us perhaps having to let Bruno go. We saw how he openly talked about Europe being the target ever since we got eliminated from Carabao
avatar
Look at Haaland the ghost. Very rarely scores important goals, just standing there waiting for a tap in. Isak miles clear as a player
avatar
Donkey drops amad.
avatar
Yes Sadly. And I can't blame him for wanting to stay in London where he's been all his life. Chelsea could easily offer him 2x what we can in wages too. It's a pity if he do end up at Chelsea/Man utd but it won't be long until we can offer players similar wage packet as the other top teams
avatar
Yes there's no way our board would spend £80m+ on Bowen and give him £150k+/week when he's got no resale value at the age of 28. If they are going to drop that sum on someone it'll be on someone younger like you mentioned, someone who could be sold for a profit. I'd actually not mind DCL as a 3rd choice Chris Wood replacement, but it'd be ludicrous to rely on him if something happened to Isak
avatar
A no brainer this. We haven't signed a Striker for our U18/u21 teams for a while. We just released three strikers Crossley, Ndiweni & Stephenson. Parkinson can play there but he's not a natural ST and neither is Neave. So we definitely need a couple of talented 17-18 year old strikers brought in
avatar
Just watched England u17 v Portugal U17 and saw a familiar name playing in the No.6 position for England... Imagine a Geordie midfield trio 10 years from now with Miley, Rigg & Harrison 😞 https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1681249813529018368?t=0XnTOafkgYXqSH3Er0JTAQ&s=19
avatar
Can't see us recruit MGW as Brunos replacement tbh. If we get him he'll likely play in the front 3 as RW, or perhaps as a 10 with a double pivot behind. Gallagher or Ederson who @Gordon Cole mentioned can slot into that RCM position in Howe's system even though Gallagher perhaps would suit the slightly more attacking LCM role a bit more
avatar
Rumors of Gallagher & Chalobah getting sold this summer In order to bring in pure profit to help with Financial-FP. Both players were important to Poch. But I think him leaving is connected to the business model. He want a bit more experience in his squad whereas the board want a young team with potential & re-sale value
avatar
Kinda glad that I ended up not paying to come lol. Still though, tonight would have been bad for your youth players’ confidence. Was literally boys vs men out there.
avatar
Yes it's a bit weird to be honest. The fans who have paid alot of money deserved better. On the other hand I can see why Eddie Howe didn't want to take any risk in the final game of the season. The club needed to raise £6m before June 30th for FFP reasons, and they have now gotten £4m for these two games. But yes, we should have been playing some of the youngsters vs Spurs, and some 1st team players today. It was a PR disaster, and I'm sure we gained 0 new young Aussie fans after this
avatar
That commentary team was fucking awful. Constantly going "oh this is an embarrassment" "oh look how good the Aussies are". Mate it was the U21's and we couldn't give a shite
avatar
From our perspective, Bruno won't leave unless the RC is triggered within the next 4 weeks. RC won't be active after June 30th. He's happy at Newcastle and won't try and force a move or such. The clause was designed in this way to protect club & player. Getting £100m immediately for 23/24 financial calendar year would be extremely helpful for FFP reasons, and would allow us to spend the full 100m in this transfer window. And if nobody triggers that clause then we can avoid speculation regarding Bruno till Sept 1st when window shuts
avatar
I'm watching the game right now. The standouts are Joe White, Travis Hernes, Alex Murphy & Ashby. The rest have been incredibly poor, especially RCB Thompson & LB Charlton. Extremely poor goals to concede. I think this is a " audition " for the youngsters, the ones who's impressive today will probably get a chance in the main pre season two months from now
avatar
Mamardasvili " Mama" is a fantastic young keeper. Unfortunately though there's one area of his game that's really poor; and it's distribution/playing out from the back. He'll fit into our current system without issues. But this would suggest that Howe got no long-term plan to start playing out from the back if we do get Mama. With that said, it'd be a big coup to get him. On DCL I'm not a fan. He's very limited technically and a really poor finisher. He's dominant in the air though like you said, but for a 2nd choice striker I expect better. Jarrod Bowen Is a topclass winger who guarantees 10+ goals in the league. Yes he's a bit older turning 28, but we'd get 3-4 great years out of him until he starts losing a bit of pace
avatar
Finally some proof from a reliable source. Seen Chelsea/Man utd fans claim that they have had the worst injury record in the league this season.. They are also better equipped to deal with injuries as they got deeper squads
avatar
Per Luke Edwards at the Telegraph we are linked to both Jarrod Bowen and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. So far I’m loving the names being floated and unconfirmed signings. Kelly and Tosin at the back are fantastic signings that provide prem-level depth to a team that needs it all over. Mamardashvili (we need a nickname) would be an immense GK signing and elevate our ability to play out of the back. Obviously Olise > Bowen, but if we miss out on Olise and get Bowen instead that is a big get for the RW. I don’t love DCL due to his injury history, but if anyone can get talent out of players it’s Eddie Howe and staff. A sizable, aerial striker like him is what I’ve been wanting for this team all season as late in the game they can be subbed on to win headers and hold the ball up for counterattacking wingers. Keep this coming NUFC, we’re gonna have a brilliant summer

How come? Don't think Bruno is involved. Personally only concern I got is that Man City now might switch attention towards Bruno as Paqueta was heavily rumored to be Bernardo's replacement
avatar
You people must be ashamed as fuck, both Atalanta and Leverkusen built a better team in two years than you after one decade with only 1/20 of your budget. Couldnt expect less from people who rated Martial at some point

Kolasinac and Xhaka are gonna win more trophies than Assna this season 😭

We got some catching up to do. Clubs like Spurs& Man City didn't have a larger global fanbase before Mike Ashley took over back in 2007. Part of the reason why I want us to sign talented internationals aged between 16-18 is because we could be getting our own Son, Salah, & Mane etc. The players I mentioned has brought in tons of money & fans to Liverpool & Spurs because they are seen as more than athletes in their countries. If we want to grow revenues and commercial side of the club quicker then we can't just sign domestic youngsters & domestic players imo, we need more Garang Kuol & Yankuba Minteh deals

Should have started the season with minimum 71 OVR, he was great for Chelsea. Super disrespectful League one rating this. One of the best young fullbacks in the PL
avatar
If Hall started over Dan Burn previously then I'm sure we'd have 6-9 Pts more in the league this season. Hall has added a different dynamic to our game, showing a very complete skillset. It's very telling that he used to be a right sided 8 for Chelsea in their academy, technically Hall is unbelievably good for a LB. He can invert into midfield flawlessly or run on the overlap to put crosses in I saw LB as a position to strengthen this summer with Matt Targett likely to leave, but I have made a 180 turn and think we should start Hall as our LB next season with Lloyd Kelly as backup. Tino can also play LB if needed
