Just for my own interest, thought I'd look into some of Man City finances early on in their takeover seeing as we're accused of spending big. Between 08-09 to 10-11, they had a net spend of nearly €400m, we had a net spend of -€5m in that time. No wonder the gap closed drastically and honestly in recent times I'm reminded of Wenger's brilliance in getting results out of a team, though he could never build a balanced team(In later years we were desperate for some defensive control in midfield).
