I went to the game yesterday because I was in London anyway and I was able to get tickets by chance. I wasn't in the Leverkusen block and saw the fans from a distance. I found it really shocking that one of the smallest and most boring fan scenes in Germany still created more atmosphere than the fan scene of a traditional English club. I found it particularly funny that the West Ham fans made fun of the jumping Leverkusen fans. It's called support and it's quite normal in Germany. In Dortmund, for example, the whole stadium is always encouraged to stand up and jump from the yellow wall. Why is that? Because it looks cool from a TV perspective and because you can actually feel the vibration in the stadium. It simply makes a nice picture and creates a good atmosphere. I've been to many stadiums around the world, but yesterday was my first time in an English stadium and I was far from impressed.
