They did that a couple years ago already when they sold Abdou Diallo in favor of keeping Zagadou who was never even close to Diallos level and eventually left on a free to Stuttgart where he's on course to being relegated. Dortmund does this all the time. Keep in mind that Nico Schulz and Thomas Meunier are still contracted to them and, wages included, cost them more than 50 million euros to this day
