Partey skill set is getting injured and harass women? Well, one player could be not enough for that.

Havertz being essential in beating the biggest of teams this season - it’s no coincidence. he allows us to play over the best mid blocks, a real target for Raya and the CBs. throw in his duelling capacity and he swings the football in our favour. Konate - one of the most dominant defenders around - wanted none of it today. winning duels, or even just attempting them and displacing the ball from either team’s possession does so much for a team looking to dominate every aspect of the game. I must say though, this is very much a luxury signing. was this signing made a season too early? maybe, depends on how the rest of the season pans out. but I can understand why some may argue it’s a misallocation of funds. the output from him must improve, however

‘3-1’ has changed his name back to ‘Santis Little Helper’ and now I think we’re on course to world peace

Good pass from Raya tho. Not a fan of his goalkeeping skills but credit where it's due.

Ouch. That one hurt. I’m sick of the emotional, reactionary element to our fanbase, we are still a very good side and should be proud of the season and past 18 months that this team has had, however I would be lying if I said that result hasn’t massively knocked my confidence in this team winning a title this season. Sitting in the Clock end on the 29th of November watching us tear Lens apart was the night when I truly started believing that we could do something special this season, up until that point my head was telling me still aren’t quite ready to win the league/CL… and btw that is totally fine!! We still have one of the youngest teams in the league and have many squad issues that still need addressing which is no fault of our own, just a result of the huge squad rebuild we’ve undertaken these last few years. Perspective is needed after results like this because we’ve come so far as a team. As we reflect on half of the season so far I certainly see a glass 3 quarters full, however I understand that the reasons certain fans see a glass 1/4 empty are legitimate reasons that were all on show today. I think 40 points is a fair reflection of our season so far, we’ve been excellent defensively but our offensive struggles have been the root cause for most of our dropped points. I struggle to see us winning the league now, City will overtake us if they win their game in hand and I don’t see us picking more points then them in the 2nd half of the season, I’d like to think we are better than Liverpool but that isn’t guaranteed either. Again, that’s okay, this season is not all or nothing, it’s a part of the process, we as fans must be demanding success now, we’re too good not too, but Arteta’s job is not on the line if we finish this season empty handed imo. As for the match, I don’t need to speak too much. Nobody played that well, we were sloppy across the field. A few players are really in my bad books right now, Martinelli needs to de dropped and if we had a replacement Zinny should too. Trossard shouldn’t be anywhere near the team for a while now also. We are still in an excellent position but we are going to have to be better in the 2nd half of the season, and I no longer think it’s a matter of “can we find some attacking coherency” and everything thing will be fine. I do think we have to change something, I’d like to see Eddie brought back into the lineup this weekend with Jesus moved to the left, I think that front 3 has some real potential. Partey is another ace we have up our sleeve that we can use in the 2nd half of the season. Obviously signings would help massively but let’s be real we don’t have the funds, would take a miracle for us to get something done that could seriously help us. We move, love this team to bits, including the players I’m not happy with at the moment. I’ve been very harsh on him but I’m willing to bet anything Martinelli has a huge part to play in the 2nd half of the season, he’s a certain goalscorer in the UCL knockout rounds man he’s that kind of player. We need to improve, which is exactly what we’ve been doing since Boxing Day 2020. In Arteta I trust.

Fair criticism these days seems to be an elusive being. Arsenal just lost a game where a lot of the underlying problems we've had all season (some from last season as well) were exposed and this time there wasn't a late winner/equaliser or a moment of individual brilliance from someone. But can't scroll here without looking at the words "reactional", "emotional", "pessimistic" slapped on comments meant to encourage support. I guess it's so wrong to point out that we do have major issues. To bring the convo about "well we aren't playing well but we're getting results so once it clicks it will be unreal" when it continues to not click on top of dropping points. I think there's several rly interesting points that can be talked about and the energy of the fans especially before the (once again) extremely important winter window can be focused on some key elements but yeah, nah... let's not do any of that and just tap the badge and sing Arsenal while waiting for miracles.

I'm so depressed by what's happening in the world that I literally can't enjoy anything anymore. For some reason in injury time i started thinking about this image of a girl with downsyndrome covered in soot and rubble. She was screaming whilst simultaneously trying to comfort a smaller child who was even more afraid. When Rice scored I felt nothing. I just stared at the screen. It's incredibly self-indulgent to say, but i'm so fucked up right now. And there are a million horrors going on at any given moment in time, but when you pay taxes to a government that supports and sort-of incited the most evil thing in a generation, it feels different, like a combination of being cynical, dead inside and impotent all at once.
avatar
Yeah. As I said earlier. I'm a simple man and I prefer goalkeeper that can goalkeeping
avatar
Odegaard makes some unnecessary moves some times. Just make the simple pass bro
avatar
Nagelsmann really put Kai at LB and he's come back a different player. Twice in two games that he's ghosted into the box and scored. Thing is he's been picking up these positions all season but either the finishing has been poor or he wasn't found. Der Raumdeuteur has arrived folks. We're going to enjoy him a lot.

On behalf of everyone, take that Baguette.

What the fuck did I do to deserve that? Arsenal got me blushing ffs. If that’s the way they are going to play with me in attendance then I need a lifelong ticket. You’ll be pleased to know that I’ll be there for Wolves this Saturday, if we have another good win I think we can all agree that I can take AFC Harvi’s season ticket and he’ll go back to Australia instead. I’m jet lagged af right now, need sleep but will try and analyse the game tomorrow. ❤️🤍

"Bumsdale". How are people this stupid?
avatar
For all of you morons going after Ramsdale's dad... I've gone through all the full interview/s and quotes that have been subsequently pulled out of context then aggregated and jumped on in tedious detail. Firstly, the "Lost his smile" comment has been said more than once, and was originally referring to when Aaron was playing behind a terrible Bournemouth defence and they were about to be relegated. Was also said when discussing being around various clubs of Aaron's previously, he was on loan getting poor results at the time with teams, his future was uncertain and due to those results the people at clubs such as Chesterfield and Wimbledon losing their jobs. What was also said was, if you aren't enjoying football and winning (When he was at Bournemouth) there will be a time when things get better. So you need to project confidence even if you aren't doing well. The more recent time it was being asked why and how pundits like Carragher etc. are talking about him differently now. "Football is all about opinions...People who don't know you or your family start questioning your family...(Lists his family)...If somebody says umm he's not a good goalkeeper, I don't like him, for this reason that reason I don't like his attitude and the like fair enough, but if you start questioning the way he was brought up or the way he's perceived then I get, and the hackles go up on the back of my neck, and then you have to say stuff, even though I'd been told not to and I've been told not to go on social media and I've been told not to go on forums and umm sometimes you find it difficult". -He was also on a golf holiday with mates in Spain for the first time in his life at the time. "Mr Carragher he was talking as if my lad was a phony, he doesn't know Aaron, doesn't know if he's a phony or not. He was infront of millions of people on sky millions watching sky around the world and judging my son, and he doesn't even know him". Then goes on to say that every club Aaron has been at when he's not playing whether England, Arsenal, Sheffield, Wimbledon, Chesterfield he's there and wholeheartedly part of the group. "All Davey did, Raya made a great save Aaron said wow was in awe of im (sic) turned to the side...And was applauding it. If the cameras hadn't of been on there nobody would have known anyway, but then for Jaime Carragher to then turn around and go well he's a fake, well I'm sorry but you don't know the make up of Aaron and you know you can say he's a terrible footballer or goalkeeper that's your opinion, but judging the person that you've never met how can you do that?" The most recent time he's said anything was in relation to a photo of Aaron smiling on the ground during a bit of timewasting/shithousery as we were about to win a game last season. Literally said he was playing last season and he's not playing now. That's all. This is the whole storm in a tea cup brewed up for clicks by Sky. Going after Nick Ramsdale and isolating these clips from an otherwise self aware and kind, nice father is frankly pathetic. Typical Murdoch tripe. Doesn't mind a chat, a stella, but not in an obnoxious way. He generally seems like a solid dude. Nick covered a lot of other things, including- amusingly saying he'd not move to Saudi and get paid 700k a week to fix bathrooms, England is amongst the deepest league/s for keepers, slags off the A-League because there's no relegation (Strongly agree), he does has Arteta's phone number but hasn't called, he was asked to go on Talksport but knew he didn't want to add more fuel and would be misinterpreted if he did, Danny Murphy doesn't understand the line between the person and the player, he was a competitive hurdler, his brother-in-law (I think) played for Stoke with a pacemaker (Chris Hemming), Aaron's son is called Clive for multiple reasons, pressure obviously is a part of football, Fleetwood Mac is his favourite band, used to be a karaoke DJ, "Where Eagles Dare" is his favourite film, Clint Eastwood is his favourite actor, says that he has a face for radio, says they've made too many series of "Red Dwarf", he's met and shook hands with Sir Bobby Charlton, Arsenal are a welcoming family club, Edu certainly has an aura but could be a mean player. And Raya will be bought. Also, importantly completely complements Raya and says Aaron is doing everything he can to welcome Raya and competition is part of football. And to get behind him. Arteta hasn't explained the decision, or told him what he needed to improve, but hasn't closed the door. Which is fine. I'm of the opinion this is about Inaki Cana. And if agents are behind this it's over already for Ramsdale. Piss poor imo. I am now an expert on Nick Ramsdale. Only minor criticism I have is maybe he drinks a tiny bit too much. But pot kettle. Screw you all for "making me" listen to over 5 hours of his interviews.

I can’t wait to talk about this one. Let’s get is out of the way now, Nketiah was absolutely unplayable. I’ve always backed him and always rated him so it’s so rewarding to see him repay that faith today. Anyone chatting shit about 10 minutes against Sevilla is honestly an idiot… when he starts games he plays well 7 times out of 10, what more do you want from a backup striker? All this crap about the number 14 shirt is so weird and embarrassing… he’s a backup striker and one of the best in the league. He’d start for half of the prem including some big teams, he’s better than that Jackson and Hojlund is yet to score a league goal.. maybe he’d get a game at United as well. I want to sign another striker and that would probably mean the end for Eddie but this idea that he’s a championship level striker is fucking delusional. Anyone who thinks he is shit is so twisted in up in their own agenda it’s not funny, his whole game today was brilliant. Anyone saying it’s just Sheffield are stupid as well, Saka and Martinelli didn’t score or assist today, someone had to step up and it was Eddie. Top player and I love him to bits, sad that so many want him to fail but they can get fucked. Plenty of other positives. First of all I think Arteta got it spot on with the lineup and rotation today. Perfectly balanced team and awesome to see a few players getting opportunities. ESR looked decent, he’s still clearly working his way back into form but he’s certainly trending in the right direction. Kiwior was good. Zinchenko was also excellent. The mainstays in the team were also great, in particular Saliba and Rice. Rayas distribution was also brilliant. The subs were great, Vieira looked really good again and I’m enjoying his performances these days, seems to be growing in stature, taking the pen shows he’s got some personality. That goal for Tomiyasu was the culmination of months of consistently quality performance all across the backline and off the bench. No player in this team deserves that more than him and I’m so happy for him. I remember after his injury against Sporting that they weren’t expecting him back until October. Obviously he worked his bollocks off behind closed doors to get himself fit for preseason, didn’t need his own documentary like Gabby Jesus, came back in unbelievable shape and now has worked himself into a starter. He will be playing LB at Newcastle and deservedly so. Look obvisouly our opposition were horrible, but the goal was always to pump them and boost the goal difference and we did just that whilst also giving minutes to some 2nd choice players. Onto the next, loving watching this Arteta project continue to blossom, what a job he’s doing. This squad is phenomenal. COYG.

Where’s that user who had his birthday last night and wanted a big scoreline? Maybe wishes do come true.

Fellow Gunners I cannot explain how excited I am as my wife has surprised me to tickets to see our Arsenal play for the first time ever! She booked us a trip from Canada to London for my birthday! We will be in London to watch us play Sheffield. This is one of the greatest days ever! Please let me know if you have any suggestions on food places and things to do in the Islington area. Thank you!

Daily reminder: I haven't managed to come across more than one City fan since yesterday
avatar
Oh and I forgot to add we were literally robbed by the refs. How Kovacic wasn't sent off I'll never know. Scandalous. So proud we were mature enough to get the win regardless. The refereeing in this league is just appalling.
avatar
Strange game for me, but buzzing none the less. I had a mare watching the replay, accidentally skipped to the end and had the score revealed to me smh, only other time I’ve had that happen was the 3-2 win against Bournemouth last season so I’ve somehow managed to ruin the spectacle of probably our two most memorable wins this year lmao but it is what it is. So happy. I thought Arteta got it spot on today. Managerial masterclass. Starting Jesus wide right was an excellent decision, the way City set up defensively would’ve made it imprisonment for him to impact the game down the middle. I think Arteta knew the striker wouldn’t be involved much today except for pressing so Eddie was probs the right call despite him having minimal impact (still the better starting striker on the pitch today). The timing of the subs was also sublime. Martinelli at half time was so clever, Pep had Walker very high in this game so having Martinelli exploit the space in behind was so smart. Fucked City’s shape up completely. The triple sub was perfect as well, Havertz had a couple of lovely touches, Tomi was excellent and Partey was Partey. All 4 subs involved in the winning goal. Mamma Mia. Every man in the back 4 can take a bow. Saliba and Gabriel locking up Haaland like it’s nothing for the 2nd time this season. Ben White is getting stupidly good now guys, head and shoulders better than Walker today. Declan Rice is worth every single penny man, what an unbelievable footballer. Jorginho deserves some credit as well, offered some important ball security to our game. Not many negatives, however David Raya appears to be a big talking point. Because I already knew the score I probably didn’t feel the same nerves that most fans did with him but still, not amazing. I’m on the fence with this Ramsdale vs Raya debate. Anyone getting emotional over it is childish imo, however it doesn’t sit right with me that we’ve had 7 games since the international break and Raya has played 6 of them. I think he’s been good decent but Ramsdale deserves more than that. The real winner is the squad today, missing our best player and we still win the game. That triple sub had 130 million pounds of talent and we had some superb footballers not even get on the pitch today. We are in superb shape to go in have a great season, let’s enjoy every minute of it buys. Huge win, potentially an era defining win. COYG!!!!!!
avatar
Havertz 9 against Chelsea are you with me ?
avatar
Lens 2 - 1 Arsenal Arsenal 1 - 0 City Conclusion : Lens > City
avatar
Declan Rice; 3 Tackles, 3 Interceptions, 2 clearances (one goal saving one), 90% passing accuracy. MOTM. Some of your fans say you played not so great, well, wining against City after having difficult parts of the match. Says a lot.
avatar
Hang on a minute. I've just clocked that Michael Oliver was the one who gave Martinelli a sending off for "two bookable offenses" in the space of 5 seconds.... and then doubled down on it. What happened with Kovacic today then? Nah man.............And if you ask me, Oliver is literally the best English referee..... THE STATE OF IT! The absolute state of it all.
