French players are actually much more rare than African players at Athletic, although the current leadership is being more aggressive in signing youth prospects from unexpected places. They recently signed a kid from Liverpool's youth team who was born in Navarra, as well as a 13 year old kid from the French Basque Country. There's a Nigerian kid on ManU's youth team that's also eligible for Athletic. You can maybe also sign YA prospects from Latin America with Basque first or last names and consider them dual nationals. Athletic has a GK that's eligible for Mexico and Real Sociedad had a Basque Mexican GK in their B team recently.
