He didn't perform well when given minutes so was never trusted with a start, and he didn't really fit anywhere in our midfield 3. So some people think his potential is overrated, some think it’s underrated. But who is Alexis MacAllister? Firstly, to anyone who says he hasn’t proved anything to deserve it, let me tell you Alexis has over 50 games played, it in that span you have not seen enough of him, then it’s on you. This is not a prospect that has randomly pop up with an early debut and a few good matches, Alexis has been playing since 2016. To understand how he plays and the why of his potential let me start of by saying he plays in Argentinos, for a kid to debut in primera división at 17 years old and keep a starting spot in a team that fights relegation constantly (consider our league is extremely physical) it’s a big achievement. In this 3 years Alexis game style has evolved considerably, and you can’t overlook that, for any player to see that kind of improvement it means there is more to come, and his adaptation to different game and football situations is really impressive. If I had to compare him to a player it would easily be Christian Eriksen, he really throws me back to early Eriksen days in Ajax, and for a player to have that as a ceiling it means his actual potential is justified, but even if he didn’t, he has done enough in our league to justify it. He is now going to Boca for 6 months and that will be a big test, there might be no team with bigger pressure for a player in our country than Boca, but overall, he has proven already the complete midfielder he is and he doesn’t have to prove anything else for his actual rating, there is many people around here commenting who look that they have a hard time analyzing Midfielders, it’s not an easy job when you don’t have stats as easy as you do with Strikers, but believe me, having followed his career, I really doubt it won’t end in massive success. Alexis is the perfect complete midfielder that any team un Europe could use, so let’s hope he fits right away in Brighton.
