Manager: Abel Ferreira
Following the long-announced departure of Ruben Amorim, Sporting aimed to continue its ambitious project with the appointment of a successful, established manager, whose philosophy suited the squad's style of play and 3ATB system.
With Porto rebuilding after technical bankruptcy and Benfica still insisting on Schmidt's system, Sporting looked to usher in an era of dominance in Portuguese football. Following a long period of negotiations, Todd Boehly and his consortium invested in the club, acquiring a 40 percent stake. While Sporting continues to be owned by itself and is not directly part of the group, being under the Clearlake umbrella has allowed for easier collaboration with Chelsea and Strasbourg when it comes to player movement.
Well managed and with fresh capital to invest, Sporting won another Liga Portugal and one Taça de Portugal In the first two years of the post-Amorim era.
