Mario Balotelli has STATISTICALLY been our best striker in the last TEN years (2010-2020), in addition, if we want to get the best out of Ciro Immobile and Andrea Belotti ahead of the Euros, we should try to build the team around them or at least play to their strengths.

What you just saw was the list of top scorers for the Italian national team, I must say that any mistake is not my fault, I got these stats from the website of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC.com). The player whose name is in capital letters is inactive (ie. retired) and the player whose name is in normal font is currently still playing for us. This means that the first 22 players are all inactive and two of forty of these guys cemented to be our striking options this summer.
The Azzurri have historiccally been defensive powerhouses instead of offensive threats so maybe most people aren't bothered by this, but I am, of course. Our rivals Germany have Miroslav Klose (top goalscorer) on 71 goals and Thomas Muller (top active goalscorer) on 38 goals, Spain: David Villa (59 goals) and Sergio Ramos (23 goals), Brazil: Pelé (77 goals) and Neymar (64 goals) and finally France: Thierry Henry (51 goals) and Giroud (44 goals). You could say that each of the top active goalscorers have been in their national setups for quite some time, and you're right, Ramos has been playing for Spain since 2005 and the latest debutant in this short list is Giroud with France in 2011. Balotelli made his debut in 2010 against Ivory Coast and last game in which he played and scored for us was against Saudi Arabia in 2018 if i'm not mistaken. At 0.38, his media gol (goals scored divided by matches played) isn't too impressive but I can give a reason why it could have been higher, although it might sound like a cliché and you might've already heard it before. Balotelli pre 2014 and post 2014 Balotelli are two DIFFERENT MONSTERS, pre 2014 Balotelli was much more troublesome, yet so talented: pace, strength, height, shooting, heading — he was Rafael Leao with a goal scoring instinct. The fact that he already scored 13 in his first four years is alright, the talent was there and all he needed was work ethic to take him to the next level, Cristiano Ronaldo only scored his first hattrick at 23 and Ronaldo Nazário (R9) never got to lift a UCL trophy in his whole career. From 2014 to 2018, Mario was never called up, and at times it was for good reasons: he had an underwhelming season with Liverpool (14-15) and he was injured for three months in a lacklustre Milan side that finished 8th (15-16). But in his first two seasons (16/17 & 17/18) at Nice, he had 43 goals in 66 matches, the best form of his life and an average 0.65 goals per game, Luis Suárez had a AVGG of 0.61 in 3 and a half seasons with Liverpool — if I was to factor in Balo's total with Nice, he would have a score of 0.57 (43 g in 76 APP). Imagine if he had gotten called up earlier or if he was more motivated, it's just an overall combination of the man himself, Italy's coaches and unfortunate circumstances, like the boy who cried wolf, a player can only show so much talent till everyone collectively gives up on him. He's like a poor man's version of Suárez; the name makes you think of a lot of things but the showing is just low quality. Immobile is already in his thirties, and so are Super Mario and Quagliarella, that leaves guys like Belotti, Scamacca or Moise Kean to pick up the pieces, cuz every other senior player isn't too much of a good look, including Lasagna.
Now if you were to tell a Lazio fan or a Torino fan that judging some of their stats, Giroud and Balotelli were better players than their talismanic forwards, you'd get an angry reaction or even a stupid look. Maybe Giroud to some extent but not Mario. It's important to highlight how Belotti and Immobile are essential for their teams, if you were to remove their respective goal contributions (eg. goals scored and assists minus the team's goals scored), you'd get a glimpse of how important they are for their clubs. As of today and after the Crotone game, Lazio are in 7th place with 42 goals for, if we take away Ciro's 14 goals and 4 assists in 24 matches, Lazio would only have 24 goals and they would effectively be out of the European spots. Do the same with Belotti and you'll find that Torino would have less goals than 19th placed Parma, putting them even deeper into the relegation zone.
So if these guys are so important for their clubs, why can't they do it when they pull on the blue shirt? Well, International football and club football are two different ball games, as an International manager, you'll get to play matches with your players at least two times each designated month from early spring (March) to autumn (October or November). So international managers never really have the same timeline as club managers do to tinker around and find their best squad, on top of this, a national team might play a different system and I think that's where Belotti and Immobile lie. They've struggled at International level because of the different system, Mancini should try to build around those two or set up to maximize their strengths, we've scored goals in a lot of our games but if we ever go up against a top opponent, Belotti and Immobile will be seen as the ones to deliver the incisive finishes needed to win the game.
The best example of my theory would be Romelu Lukaku. He's like the hyper version of Balotelli. More consistent, more desicive, more lethal and even well disciplined. At Man U, he was used as a target striker and that wasn't his preferred position, he was an out and out striker at heart. All kinds of problems came up, bad first touch, weight loss and just a torrid experience overall, but this the same man that led Everton to their best top flight finish in years, scored a winning goal for West Brom and got a concussion and became Belgium's all-time top scorer (while he was at Man U). So there must have been some sort of talent left in him which is why as soon as he went to Inter, Conte moulded the side to allow him to play as an out and out ST and the rest is history. As a Milan fan, I have seen first hand how much damage Lu-La (Lukaku and Lautaro) can do together and whenever one scores a goal, the other is either claiming the assist or played a big part in the build-up. So Mancini should look at Inter for example of how to play to a striker's strengths and maximize his abilities, he could even try pairing them up to see how they work together as an experiment.

"The fact that corruption, modern slavery and a high number of dead workers are the basis of the most important thing we have, the World Cup, is not at all acceptable."
Speaking to The Athletic, former Norway defender Tom Høgli, who is on the board at Tromsø, called on FIFA to do a "better job at creating ethical standards".
It's bigger than football its bigger than an Empty silver silly European cup or a world cup trophy we talking about modern slavery here. Qatar should get canceled and PSG are their first representants I feel disgusted justt thinking that Barca had Qatar airways on their shirts I hate Bartomeu even more for that YUCK 🤮🤢
Y'all hypocrites are quick to scream NO TO RACISM in football bla bla bla but when it comes to stuff like this yall are quiet real.quick and you know why ?? Because without Qatar you wouldn't be a big European club so yall keep quietttttttt because yall want you're money to buy all the Mbappes and Neymars right ??? Yall are the first to scream and condemn racism in football but ALL OF A SUDDEN Slavery is acceptable and no one says nothing because well shit they pay us Billions and make our club relevant you don't bite the hand that feeds you right ? Club of hypocrites disgrace of football Qatar and QSG should get canceled.
HOW IRONIC IS IT that y'all have "NO TO RACISM" on the stands of the Parc Des Princes but you're fucking investors than made you relevant are making money with slavery in their home country 😭😭 how can you get more of an hypocrite than that.
It should be "NO TO SLAVERY" instead of no to racism. QSI WE WANT A NO TO SLAVERY WRITTEN on the stands of the Parc des Princes please.

Dude is an absolute baller. The sky is the ceiling for him. Defensively has gotten better under Conte at Inter & attacking he’s the best RWB/RB in the world in my opinion. Casuals will say TAA but Hakimi has been a lot more consistent especially this year with the numbers he’s putting up. Hakimi should be upgraded to an 85-86 overall & his potential should go up to 90.
