Arsenal are such a boring team to watch. So robotic in the way they play and no individual expression.

We all know Gakpo is going to be our starting LW, but he returned late in Summer and will probably need bit of time to settle (it was very visible against Ipswich that some came late, for example Macca was far from his level) since I dont like to hurt myself as much, instead of witnessing Diaz braindead moments, I’d like to see Szobo on the left and Harvey in midfield three. Harvey deserves it, and Szobo would IMO thrive on left wing in our system. In his heat maps he was usually close to sideline at Leipzig. He will have more space there, which would suit him - first half he was tightly marked and was invisible, second half we were more fluid and he immediately began to shine. He got the thinking, the space he needs, and the skills + physical attributes (actually rapid speed) to thrive there

Transfer window so lackluster had to take a vacation to Bali. So any update on the past few weeks?
avatar
Breaking: LFC have identified 1994 Paolo Maldini and 2006 Andrea Pirlo as main targets. The club believes they are the only ones that could improve the team. It's a difficult negotiation since it'll require time travel, but the club won't settle for a plan B.

Very happy about the Mamardashvili transfer. Great business to negotiate a £25m deal for a goalkeeper that seems to be destined for the very top. I reckon Jaros takes over for Kel next summer, and Mamardashvili takes over for Ali in 2025. £20m for Sepp is also a good fee. Decent player, but I don’t think he was ever going to break through here. I’m hoping Gomez doesn’t leave this late in the window, especially with the options available on the market. Reports did only suggest that Gomez was reviewing his squad role and whether he could get more minutes as a center half, not necessarily that he had made up his mind on leaving the club. As far as replacements go, I rate Guehi, but wouldn’t spend a penny over £40-50m for him. Hincapie is overrated and not good enough. Colwill and Branthwaite could be very solid options, although the least attainable of the bunch.

Take notes Zubimendi https://x.com/luchogarcia14/status/1825931090579660988

Thoughts on this design for our first Adidas away kit? https://s3a.sofifa.net/8ac8b9b0b6ba2d7e8b887c776cff12631a55b0db.jpg

It's Adidas from next year. You do a good job, liking this one though. https://s3a.sofifa.net/49964571e1083a7d8cec6be3c38b5e00be99a851.png

The decision to sub Quansah off and to talk about it so openly is a bold one. And the fact that we left with 3 points, that just boosts the rest of the team's confidence in what Slot does and his decisions, they will trust him even more. Quansah might be upset, but we won and hopefully it will just motivate him now

Satanic institution, was cooking up the nastiest alonso hate post as well feck

Tell you what, if we signed Zubimendi and he performed like Gravy did today, we would all be satisfied. Gravenberch was very good, lets see if he can do it vs better opponents
avatar
Despite what everyone says, we still need a 6. First half was evident enough we were pressed and couldnt get out of the defence. Off the ball gravy has potential to improve but right now id like a more defensively minded player there who can also help in the buildup. Lets not forget that Ipswich are not a great team.
avatar
grav was great, he has the technique that slot wants from a 6 the movement to get rid of opponents and he has great vision too, let's see if he keeps up his level against stronger opponents.
avatar
Calafiori would be so good for us. When we build up in back three he would thrive there as the LB, he would give Trent more space, he could play LCB to give VVD a rest.... Perfect on the ball in Slot's system, the fluidity would also suit him - in Bologna he sometimes appeared in opposition's box during buildup
avatar
As Slot said, we’ll sign players when we think there is the opportunity to get somebody that will genuinely improve an already strong squad. I’m happy to give Grav and Bajcetic the season to develop while we sign Mamardashvili and a top level defender. Shame we didn’t go for Calafiori earlier this window.
avatar
Slot has abillity to switch tactics during matches. Our second halves where always better than the first.
avatar
I think a lot of the frustration comes from a good 5-6 years of lacklustre transfer seasons. We saw some initial investment from FSG when Klopp came in the first 2/3 seasons then literally nothing but stop gaps and poor signings. Maybe they're waiting until January, Slot has only just arrived maybe he feels he needs time to work with the current squad before making any big changes. Maybe its the same for the contract renewals for Van Dijk, Salah and TAA, maybe if we get off to a good start things will turn around... Maybe these players that were built and moulded on Klopps system fail to adapt so its all just about time and patience before making any big decisions.

avatar
We're not broke the club simply doesn't believe that except Zubimendi, they don't feel the need to spend on a midfielder because they're on par with Gravy and Jones at the #6 position.
avatar
Arne Slot said he wanted time to work with the squad before making decisions. He decided we need a tempo-setter 6, Hughes moved for the best one that might’ve been available, he turned us down. The world isn’t ending boys chill out, our club is not incompetent. Look around, most clubs are run much worse than ours. I get the disappointment, but jeez. Now that’s out of the way, anyone have any level-headed ideas of who might be a secondary target? I like Ricci, Stiller, Varela, Richard Rios, and André. Realistically, I’m not sure how ready those guys are but I’d vote for going back in for André even though Fluminense have been awful for most of this year. They’re on their way back now so we could get him while he’s coming back into form, although they might not want to let him go while they’re still fighting off relegation. Anyway that’s my Ted talk done thanks for coming along, what do you think?

This isn't football related, but my student loans are officially gone for me. I'm a debt free cabbage on the front of college and it feels relieving to not have to worry about that anymore.

I still remember the mini meltdown that happened here after that first loss in preseason...
avatar
adding zubimendi to this team would already be crazy, hopefully he will decide soon
avatar
That's the type of goal Nunez scores and then misses an open goal 5 minutes later, pretty sure he HAS scored a goal like that before
avatar
In before we look worse and less fluid with Diaz and Nunez playing😭

Has to start over Darwizzy

Yep. Haaland decided to not have a shot all game so lost me £10 👍

Last two weeks? If the negotiations have been going on for that long and are only starting to surface now, we’re more close to his signing than I initially thought.

By the way, I got access to the FC25 closed beta. I’ll let everybody know if it’s any good. Of course, the game will change a lot when it comes out.

Edwards being a ex-player changed the use of stats from only things like % of passes made, to what kind of passes where made and were they successful under pressure. What positions do players take up, are they quick to become available for passes and see the patterns of play fast and correctly, do they naturally made the small adjustments given changes in the flow of the game showing high level defensive capabilities. Finding ways to make these less accessible stats measurable, not just a dry printout of headers won and goals scored, or tackles made. Putting that more useful data into percentiles to classify players and finding the best/most suited ones around for our style of play and combining this with eyes on scouting for the best targets.

Heavy metal Pep ball then lol https://x.com/eurofootcom/status/1819480278705872943

With the emergence of Sepp, I think a CB is not necessary. As Carvalho is being utilised as an inside winger, I think a winger is not necessary We’ll see more from Morton and Bajcetic but I still really think a DM is needed. Endo is fine as a backup and should be rotated with Bajcetic. But I’m not sure if either are of the quality needed to start week in, week out. Bajcetic is ahead of Endo in the pecking order. I think we can get away with only one signing this summer, a DM, and still be able to challenge for top 3
avatar
Honestly lads, Quansah and van den Berg look absolutely amazing, and, I am fairly confident that we could get some decent performances out of Gomez (CB/RB) too. Unless we see a really good deal for Diomande or Kossounou - I think our defence is fine as it is.
avatar
sepp with another solid performance we should keep him 100%.
avatar
It's hilarious watching people talk about how bad the DM market is, the problem is former management structure (which includes Edwards) waited too long to buy one or reacted way too slowly. Seeing people with this weird defeatist attitude when it comes to the market is very odd. Can't say we're one of the biggest clubs in one breath and then in the next act like our hand's are tied in the market. Why don't "other" top teams have this issue when it comes to finding players? 🤔
avatar
I'm worry he won't get game times there. Maybe at Southampton, but not Leicester, they already have Fatawu, Bobby Reid Would prefer to loan him out to the Championship, or Bundesliga tbh
avatar
100% agreed hes just not it terrible under pressure and doesn't win the ball back enough a 17yo is showing him levels
avatar
His hair starting to grow in nicely too, once they're all in his brain cells will be connecting at maximum capacity and we'll see Salah 2.0

I like Arne's interviews a lot. One of the cool things he mentioned today was that they are learning how to play against various oppositions and their respective systems. I just love that, exactly what was Jurgen's biggest downside - playing the same style which sometimes was just incredibly dull. I am all up for Slot's football, it sounds very exciting.
avatar
There's no punishment that will effect Núñez and his involvement with Liverpool.
avatar
Something I’ve noticed during the preseason training videos is that Slot has fully embraced the role of a “head coach”. Contrary to Klopp, Slot is directly involved in drills and seems to run training sessions by himself. His drills also look very interesting.
avatar
Would you guys take joao gomes from wolves? For me its a weird one. Aside from the tackles per 90 stat his stats aren't really that great but whenever ive watched him hes impressed me. Depending on the price id take him

Yamal was one of the best players at the Euros before even turning 17. It's literally impossible to overhype him, what he did at his age in a major tournament was historical. The only one who did something similar was Pelé in 58, but he was still 1 year older.
